Alpha-Amylase Inhibitory and Antioxidant Activities in Aqueous Acetone Extract and its Fractions from Ampelocissus martini Root

This study aimed to evaluate and correlate phytochemical content, antioxidant activity alpha-amylase inhibitory in aqueous acetone extract fractions derived from it (ethyl acetate fraction, watersoluble methanol fraction fraction) which are obtained Ampelocissus martini Planch. root. Ethyl had the highest total phenolic content proanthocyanidin respectively. 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl, 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonic acid), cupric reducing capacity ferric power assays showed that higher compared other samples standards. Acarbose all except inhibited alpha-amylase, a key enzyme linked type 2 diabetes, dose-dependent manner strongest inhibition (half-maximal concentration=8.77±0.28 μg/ml). Aqueous was mixed noncompetitive inhibitor of enzyme. Correlation analysis strong positive correlations among alphaamylase activity.
